Card Guide

Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards is a game that can quite easily become difficult if you don't follow the basic deck-building rules it employs. The restrictions mostly revolve around you using lower-level monsters to then add tribute into 1/2-cost tribute cards.

This guide will showcase how you can quickly build a deck that should see you through right to the end of the game. I beat The Sacred Cards in roughly 6 hours of playtime by mainly utilizng some key cards I will describe below.

Don't Waste Time Battling Regular Duelists

Regular duelists will only offer 5 deck capacity for winning a duel. This isn't much and will increase the amount of duels you need to win substantially. Instead, continually fight Bonz over and over. He is extremely easy to beat and he will offer 10 deck capacity for beating him.

Don't Bother With LVL4 1600+ ATK Monsters

You'll win very strong level 4 cards with 1600+ ATK very early in the game. Don't bother with these honestly. Some of them cost ridiculous amounts of deck capacity (250+) to even consider.

Stick with the lower level monsters with slightly lower ATK which will use a lot less deck capacity. These can then be tributed into ideally 1-tribute cost monsters.

Here is a list of some ideal monster choices:

Card Cost ATK Type Password
Tainted Wisdom 130 1250 Fiend 28725004
Big Eye 121 1200 Fiend 16768387
Doron 72 900 Warrior 00756652
Revival Jam 183 1500 Aqua 31709826
Beastking of the Swamps 103 1000 Aqua 99426834
Mammoth Graveyard 121 1200 Dinosaur 40374923
Hourglass of Life 47 700 Fairy 08783685
Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress #1 161 1400 Dragon 87796900
The Snake Hair 183 1500 Zombie 29491031
Wetha 87 1000 Aqua 96643568

One of my most common and efficient strategies usually revolved around Doron (which I consider one of the best cards in the game) or Revival Jam. These cards can duplicate themselves with their effect so you essentially get a free card. This was pivotal in allowing me to easily sacrifice for stronger cards or even summoning Obelisk The Tormentor.

Hourglass of Life will power up all of your monsters regardless of their typing. This is insane. It's basically a win-more card.

Beastking of the Swamps is a very handy Dark Hole card. It'll remove all monsters on the field.

Mammoth Graveyard will power down all of your opponent's monsters. It's handy to get over a tricky monster.

Spell/Traps Are King

If it wasn't obvious, Spell and Trap cards are king in The Sacred Cards. Some of them have very strong effects and are extremely cheap. One common strategy is to place a weak monster, place a trap like Widespread Ruin and this often gaurantees you a free tribute summon since your monster will most likely survive.

These Traps were also pivotal for me to be able to easily summon Obelisk The Tormentor. The aim of the game is to keep your monsters alive and keep the opponents monsters away.

As such, here are my favorites:

Card Cost Type Password
Widespread Ruin 20 Trap 77754944
Dark Hole 40 Spell 53129443
Raigeki 50 Spell 12580477
Invisible Wire 5 Trap 15361130
Acid Trap Hole 10 Trap 41356845
Beckon to Darkness 15 Spell 08065530
Torrential Tribute 60 Trap 53582587
Heavy Storm 25 Spell 19613556

Use Single-Tribute Monsters

I personally wouldn't bother with cards that require two monster tributes (so cards level 7+), the only one I would recommend is Obelisk The Tormentor. With that in mind, here is a list of some decent 1-cost tribute monsters that are relatively cheap:

Card Cost ATK Type Password
Sky Dragon 61 1900 Dragon 95288024
Sea King Dragon 86 2000 Sea Serpent 23659124
Dark Magician Girl 86 2000 Spellcaster 38033121
Warrior of Tradition 61 1900 Warrior 56413937
Rose Spectre of Dunn 86 2000 Plant 32485271
Metal Dragon 50 1850 Machine 09293977

Using a combination of these cards you should be able to beat the game somewhat comfortable with roughly 2500-2800 Deck Capacity. You may need to throw in a handful of lower level/weaker monsters to keep the capacity down but as long as you use multiple copies of cards like Widespread Ruin, Acid Trap Hole, etc then you should be able to beat the entire game!
