Venom Guide

Venom is a powerful Marvel Rivals character who plays the role of Vanguard. As of time of writing, he is currently one of (if not the best) Vanguard in the game.

Normal Attack - Dark Predation

Venom's normal attack, Dark Predation shoots multiple tentacles a short distance (15m) in front of himself. This is basically a melee attack. The best option with this is to hold left-click to continually attack and, when possible, aim for headshots. Venom will get a very strong critical multiplier if he can land headshots with this attack.

While the distance of this attack is short, don't underestimate the ability to catch some fliers with it. It can be useful to try finish-off low health fliers who are near you.

Cellular Corrosion

Cellular Corrosion is an extremely strong ability that needs some thought put into it. Tentacles will come out of Venom and attach to all nearby enemies. It will slow (15%) all enemies down and if they can't break the tether (it breaks by gaining distance > 11m from Venom) then they take damage.

This is a much higher value ability when used against multiple enemies as it will help force them to disperse in multiple locations to break the tether, try avoid using it in 1v1 duels where possible.

Venom Swing

Venom's swing functions similarly to Spiderman's swing but he only gets 1 charge of it per 7 seconds. The swing gives a lot of momentum and is one of the best mobility abilities in the game.

It will allow you to easily escape from combat or easily get in behind enemy lines. It should also allow you to escape almost every ult in the game if you get your timing right.

Make sure you also go into your settings and disable "Easy Swing". This will allow you to aim your swing exactly where you want. This adds better control over Venom and allows you to escape specific Ultimates far easier.

Symbiotic Resilience

Symbiotic Resilience is the "push to live" button Venom has. This is an instant cast ability that will grant Venom 100 bonus health and convert 100% of lost health to further bonus health.

Naturally, this ability is best used when your HP is extremely low, as the lower it is, the more bonus health you will regain by activating Symbiotic Resilience. This has a 15 seconds cooldown so use it wisely and only use it when you can gain the most bonus health from it.

Frenzied Arrival

Frenzied Arrival is Venom's engage tool. This dive knocks up all enemies and sets you up for a very easy Cellular Corrosion. The dive itself will also do 40 damage on impact and has an 8 second cooldown.

The easiest and best way to activate Frenzied Arrival is to mix it up with Venom Swing. Your most used combination will be:

Venom Swing -> Frenzied Arrival -> Cellular Corrosion -> Hold Left Click -> Symbiotic Resilience if your HP is low.

Ultimate - Feast of the Abyss

Venom's ultimate is called Feast of the Abyss. This attack will burrow Venom underground (he will still be susceptible to damage, so be careful if you are on low health). This is a large AOE ultimate that will inflict damage equal to 50% of the target's health, followed by an additional 40 damage.

In addition, 100% of the damage dealt by this ultimate will be converted into bonus health for Venom, granting him massive survivability.

Disruption

Venom's main strength comes from his ability to disrupt the enemy composition, even if you don't get kills. For example, if you dive in behind enemy lines and target Jeff, even if Jeff escapes with his burrow ability, he is not actively healing his own team. This causes a reduction in healing across the enemy team and allows your stronger DPS heroes to start wiping out the enemy team. This is the main power of Venom, his ability to wreck havoc easily among the enemy backlines, soak damage and then escape when needed.

Weaknesses

Venom is very much a disruption hero. The main gameplay strategy is to swing in, deal damage, and disrupt (possibly aiming for high-priority targets to finish off), and then swing away to safety if needed.

Playing from the front isn't ideal for Venom because his lack of projectiles and bulky frame make him an easy target.

It would be best to also be careful with your Venom Swing timing. Utilize wall crawls with Frenzied Arrival to save your Venom Swing, as being caught in the middle of the enemy team with no Venom Swing could quickly lead to you being K.O'd.

You should also note that if you are the only tank on your team, you are now leaving your own team unprotected because you are busy dive-boming the enemy backlines. As such, you need to careful consider how and when to use Venom based on your team composition.
