All puzzle pieces in Hotline Miami
2012 might feel like a lifetime ago, but it's hard to forget the incredible music and ultra-violent delights of Hotline Miami. The game's fast-paced action and tight level design is always a treat to revisit, but its ultimate conclusion can feel a little underwhelming - did you really kill all those mobsters just for fun? Who are the masterminds behind 50 blessings, and what do they want?
It doesn't have to be this way, however. The game's secret ending provides a bit more context and food for thought - if you can pry yourself away from the violence to hunt for 16 puzzle pieces in each of the game's levels, and put them all together.
Important Notes
- All pieces are collected by right-clicking (or if you're on console, pressing the 'grab weapon' button!)
- The piece won't count as collected if you die or quit the level after collecting it
Puzzle Piece 1 - The Metro
The game's opening level sees you fighting through a relatively small group of mobsters to retrieve a briefcase. Immediately after entering, take a left to find the first piece - the letter 'U' - between the train tracks and vandalised seats.
Puzzle Piece 2 - No Talk
The second level introduces gun-wielding mobsters, but it's not all bad! You'll get the Rasmus mask after beating the previous level with a score of 13,000 or more. Equipping this mask makes all puzzle pieces much easier to spot, but they're still tiny, so look out for this piece - the letter 'T' - in the kitchen on the building's top floor.
Puzzle Piece 3 - Overdose
The mobsters in this building are armed to the teeth! Play cautiously as you work your way towards the bathroom on the building's top floor, where this piece - the letter 'A' - can be found next to the toilet.
Puzzle Piece 4 - Decadence
The hideous decorations in this mansion make the level's puzzle piece - the letter 'O' - quite a challenge to find! You'll find it on the disgusting green-and-purple carpet near some chairs in the bottom-left corner of the top floor.
Puzzle Piece 5 - Tension
This infamous level has a reputation for destroying the eardrums of headphone users, so try not to let the ringing distract you as you grab this puzzle piece - another letter 'A' - from the ground near the window in the interrogation room.
Puzzle Piece 6 - Full House
Half of the mobsters in this house carry rifles and shotguns that will blast you away with ease, but it's not all bad - this level's puzzle piece is quite easy to spot. You'll find it - the letter 'E' - next to a table in the kitchen on the bottom-right corner of the ground floor.
Puzzle Piece 7 - Clean Hit
In this level, you're introduced to brutes; larger enemies that can only be killed with guns. Stealthy players might stumble across this piece - the letter 'I' - by accident; it's near some deck chairs on the right side of the second floor balcony. You can slip through a window to access this area and ambush the mobsters, or cut a path right through them to access it through the room's back door.
Puzzle Piece 8 - Neighbors
Several floors of mobsters, brutes, and dogs await, but before you rush up the stairs, look for the letter 'N' in a bedroom on the northern side of the ground floor.
Puzzle Piece 9 - Push It
I hope you brought your dancing shoes - it's time to boogie down! This puzzle piece - the letter 'R' - is in the upper-right corner of the second floor's dance floor.
Puzzle Piece 10 - Crackdown
Several dogs roam the halls in this level, so you might want to equip the Ted mask to make them passive. Upon reaching the second floor, head to its northern side to find this puzzle piece - the letter 'S' - next to a suspiciously dark room.
Puzzle Piece 11 - Hot & Heavy
In one of the game's toughest levels, you'll find this puzzle piece - another letter 'I' - next to a small pool and some deck chairs in the section with four isolated rooms. You'll enter this area after clearing the first room and heading through the door opposite a bath filled with flowers - it seems mobsters enjoy some luxury when they aren't being decapitated!
Puzzle Piece 12 - Deadline
An overwhelming number of enemies are packing heat in this level, so your best bet is to fight firepower with firepower - and use a human shield (press the execute button when holding certain weapons near a downed enemy) whenever you can. The puzzle piece - another letter 'N' - is next to a table with a projector on it, found in the bottom-left corner of the second floor.
Puzzle Piece 13 - Trauma
A level where you can't kill anybody?! Unheard of! You'll find this puzzle piece - the letter 'W' - in the bottom-right corner of the floor you wake up on. Being spotted by guards and doctors alike will force a restart, so plan your movements carefully.
Puzzle Piece 14 - Assault
As you might expect, taking on an entire police station is quite the challenge. Stepping through metal detectors while holding a gun will bring nearby officers running, but you can use that to your advantage while making your way down to this puzzle piece - a second letter 'S' - in the bathroom at the southern edge of the ground floor.
Puzzle Piece 15 - Vengeance
Don't let the monster truck distract you - this puzzle piece, the letter 'B', can be found in the bathroom opposite the stairs on the building's top floor.
Puzzle Piece 16 - Showdown
The stage is set for the ultimate confrontation! Before you head up the stairs for the final fight, though, you should enter the room on the left to find this last puzzle piece - the letter 'H' - next to a lamp.
