Searching for the code

From the moment you begin S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2, it's clear that The Zone is home to many secrets. Some of its stalkers aren't great at hiding their loot (somebody should really tell them that attics and rooftops are far too obvious), but others give would-be looters a real challenge.

One of these extraordinarily-well-protected stashes can be found in north-western Yantar, in a bunker at the edge of a lake. In this guide, we'll help you find the code for yourself (but you can click through to the next section to have it revealed immediately) and share exactly what you'll find behind that lucrative door.

What's inside the bunker?

While strolling alongside Yantar's irradiated lake, a spot near its northern shore should eventually catch your eye. A bus dangles precariously over the water, and below it, a bunch of rats swarm. Jumping down will guarantee a death by a thousand nibbles, so be sure to throw a grenade to clear them out quickly.

Once inside, you'll find a lever that will drop a nearby ladder, some common loot, and a keypad-locked door. The sign next to it - П3РВ РO3COXA, roughly translating to 'radioactive waste disposal site', is the first and only clue the game will give you.

Finding the code requires thorough exploration of a very radioactive area, so is the reward worth it? I'll let you be the judge. Behind the door, you'll find:

  • Large RP-74M Ammo Box attachment
  • Kharod

The ammo box increases the maximum bullets an RPM-74 LMG can hold to 250, while the Kharod is an extremely reliable assault rifle. Both rewards fetch a high price, so there's no reason to let them gather dust in this old bunker.

Piecing together the code

The zone is home to many radioactive waste disposal sites. Luckily, the one you're looking for is a short walk south-east of the bunker. Bring plenty of vodka or some radation-resistant armor, as your goal here is to search the whole Chopper Field and Car Dump for the symbol you saw on the keypad.

If the radiation wasn't bad enough, there's a good chance you'll be harassed by blind dogs, raiders, and roaming packs of mutants while exploring this area - so be prepared to fight! Eventually, you should stumble across a car or truck like the one seen above with a familiar symbol painted on it. Pay close attention to the vehicle's license plate - you'll need to memorise or make a note of the number and its position.

Next, repeat this process three more times, with each vehicle revealing a new digit for the keypad door. You might be tempted to just guess the code after finding three of its digits, but getting it wrong triggers an explosive trap - so choose wisely!

The remaining code pieces

There's no feeling quite as satisfying as solving a puzzle on your own, so here are your options.

  1. Use the map below for a bit of help finding the trucks, and get the satisfaction of putting the code together yourself.
  2. Save yourself some effort, and click through to the next section to learn the code.
