Unlocking All Three Endings in Dragon Age Veilguard
I am sure you already know how your choices can lead to totally different endings in the game, but it can be quite complex to unlock your desired ending. Some may lead to the death of your favorite companion, while others can save them all, but it mostly boils down to the choices you make in the endgame.
In this guide, I am gonna explain to you how to unlock every ending in the game, including the one very little players know about.
FAIR WARNING: Before we even begin to talk about these endings, I want you to know that there will be spoilers in the guide ahead. So tread carefully, at your own risk.
How Many Endings Are There in Dragon Age: Veilguard
So, basically, there are three different endings in Veilguard: the good one, the bad, and kind of neutral one, and lastly, there’s a secret ending. Let me explain these a little more, and how you get them.
-
Bad Ending: The bad one unlock with you fighting Solas and forcing him to do the right thing.
-
Neutral Ending: The we have the neutral one, where you trick Solas into doing the right thing, being subtle about it.
-
Good Ending: Finally, (at least, officially) we have the good ending, where you convince by talking to him and making him agree to do the right thing willingly.
-
Secret Ending: There’s a secret ending that I will talk about further down in the guide.
These are all three known endings that you can unlock depending on the choices that you make. But that’s just the overview of the choices and the ending they unlock. However, getting there takes quite a lot of effort. So, let me help you walk through the exact steps you need to take in order to unlock these endings.
1. Tricking Solas – The Neutral Ending
As I mentioned earlier, to unlock this ending, you need to trick Solas by choosing the “Let’s try this your way” option during your final confrontation with him. This allows you to trick Solas into using the fake dagger.
This way you will be deceiving him with a lie. He will use the fake dagger, and you get to manipulate Solas into sealing the Veil in a way that aligns with your goals. The downside to this ending is that it comes with getting locked away for a while. So, there’s that.
2. Fighting Solas – Bad Ending
But it gets worse with the Bad Ending. For this one, you have to go with the “But I want to fight you” choice when given options. This, of course, will lead to a battle against Solas where you ultimately force him to bind himself to the Veil.
There are few problems with this endings:
-
If both of your companions haven’t achieved Veilguard status, the fight doesn’t go smoothly. You’ll still succeed in binding Solas to the Veil, but Rook will be dragged in with him.
-
Secondly, if both of your companions are Veilguards, you’ll have an epic fight with Solas. After an intense final battle and an epic cutscene, you’ll still bind Solas, but this time, without losing Rook.
While this ending lets you “win” by brute force, it kinda leads to darker outcomes in both cases, that I mentioned above.
3. Convincing Solas – The Good Ending
Let’s talk about the good ending now. This is where you make Solas redeem himself. And for this, there are a few things you have to do beforehand. First, completing the side quest named “Regrets of the Dread Wolf”, which gives you a very crucial item to unlock this ending.
With the quest completed, you will get the third option in the final fight, by selecting “more” and then “You don’t have to do this.” After this, you convince Solas to not carry on with his plan. This leads to the Dread Wolf sacrificing himself to bind the Veil, which redeems him of his past actions. A happy ending for everyone.
4. The Secret Ending – Post-Credits Scene
Dragon Age: The Veilguard has a hidden secret ending that plays after the credits, but you have to lay some groundwork for that. Basically, what you need to do is collect three Mysterious Circle codex entries. Remember, these aren’t part of any quests, and the game won’t tell you when you’ve found them, so you’ll need to explore carefully.
Here’s where to find them:
-
Arlathan Forest: Solve the Waterfront Glades chest puzzle to get the first codex.
-
The Crossroads: Complete the side quest called “Heart of Corruption” for the second codex.
-
Necropolis Halls: Finish the “Pinnacle of Its Kind” side quest to grab the last codex.
Find all three, and after the credits roll, the scene will automatically play, but most players don’t know about that. So, before finishing the game, make sure to do these side quests, and unlock this bonus scene.
