How to Get Minthara without Mods in BG3

Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you absolute freedom to create your dream team, but at the same time, it requires a heck of a lot of effort to achieve that. Every choice, every decision you make can alter the course of the game, and also make or break your relation with potential party members.

And to be honest, Minthara is by far one of the most difficult to recruit for your party. It requires you to play a certain way, make some hideous decisions to get her on your side. In this guide, I will tell you exactly what you need to do in order to recruit Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Where to Find Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3

Minthara Moonrise Towers

Now, before we talk about recruiting Minthara, we need to know where to find her, exactly. This happens pretty early on in the questline, at the time, when we have to save Halsin from the Goblin’s attack. That’s where you encounter Minthara, and it’s easy to take her for an enemy and end up killing her.

What you should know is that there is a way out of this mess that doesn’t require hurting Minthara, and even getting her on your side. This doesn’t mean, you won’t fight her when she stands in your way, but what you do need to do is switch your attacks to Non-Lethal.

This way you will be able to knock her unconscious, which will help you to convince her to join your side. However, before you try to knock her out, you need to make sure that she’s in a “Hostile” stage against you. If you do manage to knock her out, your quest will be completed, while leaving Minthara still alive and breathing.

Minthara Approval

You will then have to continue the Act Two quest that leads you to Moonrise Towers. This is the place where you encounter Minthara the second time, as she’s being questioned and tortured by her superiors. This is where you get the chance to get in her good books by saving her life, and asking the commanders to let her rot in jail with the help of Wisdom Rolls.

Once she gets to the jail, she will be tortured again by the guards, who try to erase her past memories. You can choose to fight the guards to save her, or you can talk your way out of this situation, and convince them to let you finish the whole process, which you don’t, of course.

Now that you have Minthara with you, you will have to escape from the Towers. This can be done in 2 ways: you can either talk your way out of all this, you can fight with the guards, which requires you to have a strong party, of course.

After you’ve helped Minthara escape, you can persuade her to join you as a companion. Of course, that does take a little effort, but you are done with the hard part. You can even choose her as your romance partner, but that’s a story for another time.
