Combo Achievements
There are five combo-related achievements up for grabs, with each one demanding a bit more skill than the last.
- Combo Beginner - perform a 4x combo
- Combo Intermediate - perform a 6x combo
- Combo Pro - perform an 8x combo
- Combo Master - perform a 10x combo
- Combo King - perform a 12x combo
There's a good chance of the first three or four coming naturally as you work towards getting A+ ranks on some of the game's harder levels, but the most effective combo-building strategy is, quite simply, to play quickly. Throw on the panther mask (AKA Brandon) to move faster or frog mask (AKA Zack) to keep your combos active for longer, then focus on kills above all else. General tips are as follows:
- Guns are your best friend - they kill quickly, have good range, and bring other enemies running.
- Knives attack quickly and can kill enemies when thrown - also quite useful!
- If you equip the wolf mask (AKA Dennis), you'll start the level with a knife.
- Ground executions take too long; wherever possible, you should kill enemies outright and avoid knocking them down.
- If you equip the tiger mask (AKA Tony) your punches become lethal and ground executions become much faster.
The level you choose to attempt these achievements in is down to personal preference, but I found the levels below to be decent options. If your combo ends before reaching 12x, letting yourself get killed is recommended - hitting 'restart' will send you back to the very start of the level.
- Chapter 9 - Crackdown. This area's first level has 12 enemies, making it a great area to practice (Zack mask recommended!)
- Chapter 10 - Hot & Heavy. After clearing the level's first room, go up the stairs in the bottom right; this area has around 14-15 enemies.
You don't need to complete the level or even its sub-section after getting the 12x combo, so when the fighting dies down, focus on staying alive until the combo ends; the achievement(s) will be yours soon after.
